AU INFORMATION before sigyn was known as the goddess of fidelity, the woman whose flesh has been burned by the venom of snakes ( in more ways than one ), she lived on midgard — a xhosa, living among wakandans. her given name was nombuyiselo amahle, daughter of the abantu bomlambos , born in the lapping tides of south africa.sometime during her adolescence, she was given the opportunity to betray her people — those whom she swore to protect with the powers bestowed upon her — and, unfortunately, she took it. the casualties as a result were numerous, and when her attempts to escape the consequences fell short, the deities of the wakandan ancestral plane decided to banish nombuyiselo ( also called iselo ) from wakanda and forced her to find a new people, where she would swear her undying fidelity to until the end of her days. iselo’s form was cast out into the realm of asgard, where she materialized in golden flecks and purple linens, a humble crown of iron ( not vibranium as she had grown accustom ) and a lace veil laid over her head, wading in the knee deep rivers that chilled her skin. iselo longed for her home, one that she could never return to.sigyn has told relatively few about her background, choosing to start anew from the day she set foot on asgardian soil. in fact, the only people that know of her origins are the allfather and allmother. and so (!), the queen mother frigg gave nombuyiselo the name sigyn, meaning ‘bringer of victory’, goddess of fidelity, a name fit for an asgardian. more information to come, feel free to dm with any questions.
|| WHAT ABOUT SHIPPING? WHAT ABOUT LOKI? given the fact that i am not presently writing a ship with a loki account, i am choosing to write with this sigyn portrayal as unmarried until ( / if ) a ship develops to the point of marriage. if a loki account (her canonical husband) would like to discuss a ship or a dynamic that has them married, i am willing to discuss it! but i did not enter this space solely to write with loki’s, especially since i believe that there is much of sigyn’s story that can be explored beyond any connection she may have/ may not have with lokis. not to mention that loki & sigyn’s dynamic would work just as well as good friends as it would with romantic partners, if shipping is not desired or developed yet.another option could also be a marriage of convenience / arranged marriage situation, where romance wouldn’t be a factor in a connection and they would be married for political reasons.out of respect for my beloved loki mutuals, i will not enter interactions writing sigyn as their wife, nor will i presume a ship/marriage is to happen just because they’re a loki and i’m a sigyn. when i find my footing on this account, i’ll put up a shipping / connection call where my mutuals can express interest in developing a specific dynamic, whether that be romantic or otherwise. but until then, feel free to dm me if you wish to write a specific dynamic and we can work through the minutiae together :-)( TL;DR i’m 100% willing to write a ship with a loki account, but i won’t enter first time interactions with that dynamic in mind unless i’ve spoken to their writer about it ooc.)
