name/title the lady sigyn, daughter of the water spirits. age well over a thousand years old. pronouns she/her/hers. species unknown, assumed to be some class of divine creature/demigod. birthdate spring. sexuality unlabeled queer. origin some myth influences but based in marvel / mcu content. location asgard. while its true that sigyn spends a fair amount of time in the heart of Asgard ( the palace grounds ) , she lives by the river Ífingr ; an impassable magical passageway, for most anyways. her lineage with the river nymphs of wakanda have given her supernatural powers, which involves water manipulation. that, alongside her not being asgardian & bound by the laws that all asgardians are borne into, sigyn can move throughout the river freely, even crossing into jotunheimr, if she so choose. alignment neutral good. transportation horseback, she rides a black destrier named mthunzi ( meaning ‘shadow’ in xhosa ).

wardrobe & style flowing dresses, tunics, skirts & togas, often in layers of overlapping fabrics. she prefers cool colors, shades of teal and purple, and golden accents via nose rings, bangles, necklaces, earrings, & her signature chest plate. she’s also been known to tuck peacock feathers and flower stems in her hair & bodice. likes sigyn is an animal lover above all else. creatures that roar and scratch, that creep and crawl, monsters that most would run from , sigyn approaches. as a result, she has her fair share of scars, but also a legion of friends of all species. she dabbles in botany, the study of plant life and their medicinal purposes and drinks three cups of herbal tea a day (minimum). sigyn loves to learn, about others and the world around her, so every free moment she has if not spent gardening, is spent reading. the palace library is vast, and its enchantment allows her to read any book ever published throughout the universe ; something she takes great advantage of. sigyn particularly loves poetry books and atlas’.sigyn is a forager by nature, and it shows. she’s often barefoot, boots or sandals in hand but not worn. her hands and fingers are tinted by lalle ( a dark pigment made from the henna plant ), the design varying biweekly. depending on the timeline, her hair is either worn in locs or her natural curls ( often pulled back into a ponytail to keep it out of her face while she works ). whatever the case, her hair is well taken care of ; an iron rich diet and a handmade oil blend keeps her hair strong, with a sheen that matches the glow she naturally carries as a fantastical creature of the river. she has a few different piercings, but no tattoos ( as beautiful as she does find them ).
AU INFORMATION before sigyn was known as the goddess of fidelity, the woman whose flesh has been burned by the venom of snakes ( in more ways than one ), she lived on midgard — a xhosa, living among wakandans. her given name was nombuyiselo amahle, daughter of the abantu bomlambos , born in the lapping tides of south africa.sometime during her adolescence, she was given the opportunity to betray her people — those whom she swore to protect with the powers bestowed upon her — and, unfortunately, she took it. the casualties as a result were numerous, and when her attempts to escape the consequences fell short, the deities of the wakandan ancestral plane decided to banish nombuyiselo ( also called iselo ) from wakanda and forced her to find a new people, where she would swear her undying fidelity to until the end of her days. iselo’s form was cast out into the realm of asgard, where she materialized in golden flecks and purple linens, a humble crown of iron ( not vibranium as she had grown accustom ) and a lace veil laid over her head, wading in the knee deep rivers that chilled her skin. iselo longed for her home, one that she could never return to.sigyn has told relatively few about her background, choosing to start anew from the day she set foot on asgardian soil. in fact, the only people that know of her origins are the allfather and allmother. and so (!), the queen mother frigg gave nombuyiselo the name sigyn, meaning ‘bringer of victory’, goddess of fidelity, a name fit for an asgardian. more information to come, feel free to dm with any questions.
|| WHAT ABOUT SHIPPING? WHAT ABOUT LOKI? given the fact that i am not presently writing a ship with a loki account, i am choosing to write with this sigyn portrayal as unmarried until ( / if ) a ship develops to the point of marriage. if a loki account (her canon husband) would like to discuss a ship or a dynamic that has them married, i am willing to discuss it! but i did not enter this space solely to write with loki’s, especially since i believe that there is much of sigyn’s story that can be explored beyond any connection she may/ may not have with lokis. not to mention that loki & sigyn’s dynamic would work just as well as good friends as it would with romantic partners, if shipping is not desired or developed yet.* another option could also be a marriage of convenience / arranged marriage situation, where romance wouldn’t be a factor in a connection and they would be married for political reasons.out of respect for my beloved loki mutuals, i will not enter interactions writing sigyn as their wife, nor will i presume a ship/marriage is to happen just because they’re a loki and i’m a sigyn. when i find my footing on this account, i’ll put up a shipping / connection call where my mutuals can express interest in developing a specific dynamic, whether that be romantic or otherwise. but until then, feel free to dm me if you wish to write a specific dynamic and we can work through the minutiae together :-)( TL;DR i’m 100% willing to write a ship with a loki account, but i won’t enter first time interactions with that dynamic in mind unless i’ve spoken to their writer about it ooc.)
